Times are tough for Michigan media specialists.  It’s seems like we’re continually dealing with threats of having our jobs eliminated or our programs curtailed.  We’ve found ourselves facing data-based decision making scenarios where we’re asked to defend our contributions and justify our worth.  We know we make a profound difference in the lives of our students, but how can we prove it?  Where’s our data?

 

MAME 35 will tackle this question.  Our upcoming annual conference will take place on November 5th, 6th and 7th at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn.  The theme of the conference is “Just the Facts: Using Data”.  Conference keynoters and break-out sessions will address how to identify, collect, analyze, and communicate data to effectively assess the impact library media specialists have on student learning.

VENDOR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MAME MEMBERS 

 

            Once again, the Michigan Association for Media in Education has asked vendors to participate in helping MAME members attend our annual conference. Vendors have been asked to pay the registration fee for a MAME member who is paying all of her or his own annual conference expenses. We have had a great response for this endeavor and currently have commitments for 2008 Scholarships from:

The application conditions for a MAME Vendor Scholarship:

  • You must be a current member of MAME
  • You must be a certified media specialist currently employed in a school
  • You must be paying all your own conference expenses (nothing paid by your employer)
  • You must be registered to attend the conference

 

 

Additional consideration:

  • Previous participation in MAME activities
  • Previous service to MAME  (committee membership, volunteerism, etc.)

If this will be your first MAME conference, or if you’re coming by yourself, here’s a special welcome and a chance to participate in the MAME Conference Buddy Program.

 

 

 

The intent of the Buddy Program is to assist newcomers and solo attendees with getting the most out of the conference.
